今回は昭和を代表する遊び道具
「めんこ天狗」です。
Menko is a Japanese card game.
How to play Menko:
(1) Decide turns by Rock-paper-scissors.
(2) The first turn tries to flip cards that other players put on the ground.
(3) If cards flip over, the first player can keep his/her card
and the loser is out of game.
(4) If cards don’t flip over, the next turn plays.

rock-paper-scissors＝じゃんけんぽん
flip over＝ひっくり返す
むか〜し昔、牛乳瓶の蓋でメンコを作ったような…
遊んだ記憶は曖昧です。
さて、それではこの妖怪英語で説明しましょう！
1. Menko Tengu uses a magical power and changes children into
menko cards and plays with them.
2. Tengu is a legendary creature in Japanese folktales.
3. Tengu means hevenly dog and it comes from Chinese.
4. Tengu usually has a long nose, but Menko tengu doesn’t.
天狗は鼻が高いですが、この「鼻が高い」というときは
long noseと言います。high noseとは言いません。
ピノキオも long noseになっちゃいますね。
ちなみに「天狗になっているねー」というのは
He/She has a big ego.
He/She is arrogant.
と言います。
